CAREER CONSULTING & COACHING
Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 15, 2026
The Resume Room (“The Resume Room,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains the personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, the choices available to you, and how to contact us about your information.
This Policy applies to The Resume Room website, consultation and scheduling pages, online forms, email communications, and career consulting, coaching, résumé, LinkedIn, interview-preparation, and related services. By using our website or voluntarily providing information to us, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy.
Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information, depending on how you interact with us:
-
Contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, city, state, and preferred method of contact.
-
Professional and career information, such as résumés, cover letters, employment history, education, skills, certifications, portfolio or LinkedIn information, job preferences, career goals, salary preferences, and information you choose to provide during consultations.
-
Service and communication information, such as intake-form responses, appointment details, emails, feedback, testimonials you authorize, and records relating to the services you request.
-
Transaction information, such as the service purchased, amount, date, and payment status. Payment credentials are generally handled by the payment service you choose rather than stored directly by The Resume Room.
-
Website and device information that may be collected automatically through Wix or connected tools, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, date and time of access, and cookie or similar technology data.
How We Collect Information
We collect information directly from you when you contact us, submit a form, schedule a consultation, purchase or request a service, send career documents, communicate with us, or participate in coaching. We may also receive limited information from service providers you use to interact with us, such as Wix, Calendly, email, cloud-storage, document-processing, payment, analytics, or communication providers. Certain technical information may be collected automatically when you visit the website.
How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
-
Respond to inquiries, schedule consultations, and communicate about requested services.
-
Prepare, review, revise, and deliver résumés, cover letters, LinkedIn content, career plans, interview-preparation materials, and related work.
-
Provide career consulting, coaching, workshops, and client support.
-
Process or confirm transactions and maintain appropriate business and tax records.
-
Operate, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve our website and services.
-
Send service-related messages and, when permitted, information about services or offers. You may ask us to stop promotional emails at any time.
-
Protect our rights, prevent misuse or fraud, comply with law, and respond to lawful requests.
Career Documents and Confidentiality
Résumés, cover letters, intake forms, career histories, and other client materials are treated as confidential business records. We do not send your documents or information to an employer, recruiter, school, or other third party unless you ask us to do so, authorize the disclosure, or disclosure is otherwise permitted or required by law.
We will not publicly use your name, image, testimonial, résumé, before-and-after example, or other client work for marketing without your permission. When practical, examples may be anonymized or altered to remove identifying information.
Please do not send Social Security numbers, account passwords, full financial account numbers, government identification numbers, medical records, or other information that is not reasonably necessary for career services. If a résumé contains a full home address or other information you do not want shared, remove it before submitting the document or ask us for assistance.
How We Disclose Information
We do not sell personal information for money. We may disclose information only as reasonably necessary in the following circumstances:
-
Service providers that support website hosting, scheduling, email, file storage, document preparation, analytics, payment processing, security, or other business operations. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
-
Professional contractors or collaborators assisting with an authorized service, when appropriate confidentiality and access limitations are in place.
-
Government authorities, courts, regulators, or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, property, prevent fraud, or enforce an agreement.
-
A successor or involved party in a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.
-
Other parties when you direct us to disclose the information or give your consent.
Wix Calendly and Other Third Party Services
Our website may be hosted through Wix and may link to or integrate with Calendly and other third-party services. These providers may collect information directly from you, including contact, scheduling, device, usage, cookie, or transaction information, according to their own privacy notices. The Resume Room does not control the independent privacy or security practices of third-party websites and services. Please review their notices before providing information.
Cookies Analytics and Privacy Signals
Wix and connected services may use cookies, pixels, local storage, or similar technologies to operate and secure the website, remember preferences, understand website use, and improve performance. You can manage cookies through available website controls and your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality.
Our website may not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. Where applicable law requires recognition of a legally valid opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we will honor that signal for the processing to which it applies. The Resume Room does not knowingly sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices or website tools change, we will update this Policy and any required privacy choices.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, maintain business and tax records, support client requests, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Retention periods may vary by the type of information and purpose. Information may remain temporarily in secure backups after deletion from active files.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect personal information. However, no website, email, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for using secure methods when sending sensitive documents and for protecting your own accounts and passwords.
Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable exceptions, you may have the right to request access to personal information we maintain about you, request correction or deletion, receive information about our use or disclosure of your information, withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, or opt out of certain uses. You may also unsubscribe from promotional email communications. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
To submit a privacy request, email success@theresumeroom.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. Please describe your request and identify the email address or telephone number you used with us. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We may retain information when permitted or required by law, including records necessary to complete a transaction, detect security incidents, protect legal rights, or meet tax and recordkeeping obligations.
California Privacy Notice
California residents may request information about categories of personal information collected, sources, purposes, and categories of recipients; request access, correction, or deletion; and exercise other rights available under California law. Some California privacy rights apply only to businesses that meet specific legal thresholds. The Resume Room will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law. We do not knowingly sell personal information, and we do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children’s Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that such information was submitted without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. When career or educational services are provided to a minor, involvement or consent from a parent or legal guardian may be required.
Third Party Links
Our website or communications may contain links to third-party websites, job boards, social-media platforms, schools, employers, or other resources. Their privacy and security practices are governed by their own policies. A link does not mean that The Resume Room controls or endorses those practices.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, website tools, or legal obligations change. The revised Policy will be posted with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the website or another appropriate method.
